IATAN's mission is to promote professionalism, administer meaningful and impartial business standards, and to provide services and educational programs that benefit the travel industry.

The Travel Institute
Established in 1964, The Travel Institute serves as a community of knowledge and insight for all travel professionals. Through innovative education programs, professional certifications and customized learning solutions, The Institute fulfills its non-profit mission to promote a standard of industry knowledge and excellence. Going on 13 years of travel industry experience, special event planning and extensive first hand knowledge of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disneyland Paris, and approximately 32 other cruise lines and vacation suppliers, she provides a solid foundation of knowledge to help her team find the right fit for your family and maximize your vacation dollar.

Beci is a frequent guest on several travel podcasts including WDW Radio and is a regular contributor to Celebrations Magazine. She also serves on Disney's Earmarked Travel Advisory Council.

Annette Owens  -  Operations Manager

Annette Owens is a leading Disney vacation planning guru. For several consecutive years she has escorted a large group of guests to MouseFest, providing special events such as a private party at the Adventurer’s Club, and private viewing experiences. She specializes in family, incentive, and leisure groups as well as expertly servicing the needs of the individual family or traveler.

Annette is a true Disney and cruise fan in general. With almost 75 personal visits to Walt Disney World, 14 Disney Cruises and a couple of trips to Disneyland – she can truly help you with all your Disney planning needs as well as assisting with other cruise and vacation destination planning. Beth Dickerson – North Carolina

In addition to her passion for all things Disney, Beth also has a passion for cruising and specializes in many other destinations. She is an Accredited Cruise Councilor and has completed many destination specialist courses including Cancun Specialist, Vegas Certified, Sandals Specialist and Maui and Resort Quest Hawaii Specialist.

Beth also feels very lucky to have a wonderful Husband and three children who share her love to travel and are more than willing to join her on all of her "research" trips to Disney and other destinations.

Coleen Bolton - Florida

Coleen grew up near Philadelphia and each spring her family would pack up the van and hit 95 South bound for Florida. She knew from her very first visit that Disney World was her favorite place and she now lives just a short drive from the Magic Kingdom. (lucky girl!)

Over the years, Coleen spent lots of time researching and plotting out every detail for her Disney vacations and began helping friends and family with their planning needs as well. Soon she realized she found her calling and now has several years of professional vacation planning experience under her belt. And not just Disney! Coleen also specializes in cruise vacations and land getaways to the beaches on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.

Debra Gordon – New York

It is easy to appreciate the value of a critical eye when planning the right vacation experience. And no one knows this better than Debra Gordon who … along with raising a family, being active in her church and PTA, and contributing several hours each month educating 5th and 6th graders about tobacco, alcohol and drugs… also has a degree in restaurant management and a bookkeeping background.

Debra has traveled a great deal on both land and sea and is blessed with a love for exploring new places. This allows her to constantly collect data on varied cruise lines and resorts. Jaclyn Brewer – Mississippi

Jaclyn has been a travel consultant for 3 years, and she loves her job! She began traveling to Disney World at the age of 4 with her parents, and her love for Disney continues to grow! She even traveled on the Disney Magic for her Honeymoon! Jaclyn has stayed at nearly every resort in Walt Disney World, and she can help you choose the perfect resort for your family.

Jaclyn has sailed on numerous cruise lines including Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean. Jaclyn loves to plan cruise and land packages for her clients. After all, Jaclyn’s second love is cruising!

Kathy McCullock – North Carolina

Kathy loves to make people’s dreams come true. She enjoys aiding families plan their 1st or their 100th trip to Disney. She specializes in family vacations, honeymoons, and cruises. Keri Madeira - Pennsylvania

Keri has her degree in Hotel Management and has always enjoyed traveling. She went to Walt Disney World on her honeymoon, fell in love, and couldn’t wait to return! Many trips and several Disney cruises later, she realized that she loves helping other people plan their vacations as much as she enjoys planning her own.

Keri has been working as a Vacation Planner for three exciting years helping her clients design their dream trips. Each person is looking for a different experience; a family trip to Disney, a week in the Caribbean or a romantic weekend at a bed and breakfast. Regardless of the location, Keri realizes that the little details are what make vacations magical. She strives to create unforgettable vacations, whether her client is a solo traveler or a large family group!

Outside of the office, Keri stays busy with her husband and five children. She continues her travel education and takes as many Disney excursions as possible in order to reach her goal of staying at each one of Disney’s resorts.

Leslie Henson - North Carolina

Leslie visited Walt Disney World just six months after it's opening, and has been hooked ever since! While in college, she had the opportunity to study and work for a semester through the Magic Kingdom College Program (now called the Walt Disney College Program). Her ultimate dream came true, when after graduation, she continued to work for Walt Disney World in the Guest Relations department as a Magic Kingdom and VIP Tour Guide.

She loves passing on her vast knowledge of the Disney parks and love of Disney history and trivia to her clients! Not only will Leslie make sure that every aspect of your Disney vacation has been taken care of, but she also passes along all her "tips & tricks" she learned while working there, to give you the inside track to the perfect Disney vacation!

An avid traveler, Leslie is also well versed in all major cruise lines, Universal Studios, the Caribbean and Las Vegas. No matter where you would like to go, Leslie will give your vacation her magical touch!

Michelle has been a travel consultant since 1992. Raised in California she wanted a job she could move around and take with her as well as one that allowed her to work from home and raise her 3 kids. Michelle is married to a US Marine which has allowed her to live all over the United States as well as in Japan. She has become an expert on military travel as well as cruises all over the world including special knowledge of Florida, California, Hawaii, Japan and Hong Kong.

Cruises, honeymoons, and Disney travel top Michelle’s area of "fun things to book" for clients. She is a native California girl who first went to Disneyland in 1969 (still her most favorite Disney Park). She has experienced Disney World on several trips, sailed on the Disney Cruise Line, and visited Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea.

Michelle obtained her Certified Travel Consultant title in 2005 acknowledging her passion for the travel industry and her continuing drive to provide the best care and service she can to all her clients.

Sandy Myers – New York

Sandy Myers grew up in south Florida. She took many trips to Walt Disney World with her family, the first being in January 1972 to celebrate her birthday. Her love of all things Disney continued to grow with multiple visits to various Disney destinations.

After many years in the customer service industry Sandy took a break to stay home with her son. While planning a family reunion at Walt Disney World she found a new job that could make use of her love for all things Disney and her love of travel that still allowed her to have time for her family; this is her dream job.

She has been helping people plan magical vacations since 2003. Specializing in Central Florida theme park and cruise vacations; not only does she enjoy planning vacations but she and her family love to experience the destinations as well.

Sara Varney – Connecticut

Sara Varney has been a Disney fan since her first trip in 1982. Since then she has been over 20 times including her honeymoon in 1997, her son Ryan’s first trip in 2005 and three cruises on the Disney Cruise Line! Sara joined PassPorter Travel Press as their Online Coordinator & Newsletter Editor in 2005 and is an active member of the PassPorter message board community. It was through PassPorter that she met Beci and eventually joined the MEI & Mouse Fan Travel team. Sara is proud to offer superior service to her customers and prides herself on doing her very best to make every client’s Disney dreams come true.

Stephne Hilgendorf – Utah

Stephne has a huge love for Disney. Her first time at Disneyland in California was when she was just 3 years old! She is a former cast member from the The Disneyland Resort enjoying the excitement of duties ranging from Parade Performer to a Reservation Sales Agent at the Walt Disney Travel Company. Because of her experience, she has an extensive knowledge of the Disneyland Resort in California.

Stephne has also visited Walt Disney World quite a few times and has sailed on Disney Cruise Line as well for family trips and even her very own honeymoon!

Stephne has been planning vacation travel for over 4 years, sharing her knowledge of the Disney destinations as well as arranging cruise and land packages for couples and families. This is truly her dream job which allows her way she can do the 2 things she loves…planning vacations, and being a mom.

Stephanie Hudson – North Carolina

Stephanie has always had a love of travel. From camping across the United States, to Walt Disney World, to Madrid and Germany, to Vegas, to a Hawaiian Honeymoon, she just loves to "Go!"

Stephanie loves to work with people, she has a business background and has always worked in the customer service industry. While planning yet another trip to Disney Stephanie found a new career that could make use of her love for Disney and her love of travel that still allowed her to have time for her family; this her dream job. Stephanie goes to Disney as much as she can. Her family loves to go along on trips to Walt Disney World, cruising on Disney Cruise Line and other vacation destinations. These "study" trips help Stephanie let her clients know what to expect when they go. Working has never been so much fun!

Stephanie enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with her clients and would love to help you and your family plan your own ‘magical’ vacation. With several years of experience, Stephanie has picked up some "tips and tricks" to help make her client's vacations the "best ever". She believes in making every vacation special by providing excellent service, follow up and personal attention.

Suzy Schreiner- Washington State

Suzy’s love for travel began as a young girl spending a summer in Europe with her mother. She decided then and there that there was a big world out there and she wanted to see it! She graduated from Washington State University’s School of Hotel & Restaurant Administration and has worked for such corporations as Hilton Hotels and Disney Parks & Resorts.

She specializes in vacation travel from the exotic islands of the South Pacific to many family favorites such as cruises and theme park destinations. Of course, anyone who knows Suzy can see that her heart is drawn to the Disney properties around the world! She has had the opportunity to visit all except one. Most recently, she and her husband had the pleasure of touring Disney’s newest property, Hong Kong Disneyland, with their new daughter, LiLi!

Suzy firmly believes in “concierge-level service” for all of her clients. She enjoys her role of helping them plan the best vacation possible and building memories that will last a lifetime!

Vickie Kaylor - Maryland

Vickie’s first visit to Walt Disney World was with her family in 1992 and it was love at first sight! After years of extensive “research” and planning trips to Walt Disney World for friends and family, she officially started in the travel business in September 2001. Vickie has visited Walt Disney World 20+ times in the past 13 years, staying in almost every resort on property, and has made three trips to Disneyland in the past four years. Vickie loves nothing better than “talking Disney” with fans and with clients visiting for the first time.

November 2002 marked Vickie’s first cruise ever. That fabulous 7-night cruise to the Western Caribbean was, of course, on the Disney Magic. She has since sailed the Disney Wonder’s 4-night Bahamas cruise and, just last August, Vickie and her husband Mike were among those who proudly “brought the Magic home” on the 14-night eastbound Panama Canal cruise!

For the past four years Vickie has ventured farther afield whenever possible and now has considerable experience with other cruise lines and vacation destinations.

Our founder, Rebekah (Beci) Mahnken, began her travel career after 10 years of Customer Relations Management in the software industry. She has a passion for travel, cruising, and thanks to her father, she developed a special love for all things Disney. After a less then satisfying experience with a local agency, Beci recognized the need for a premium service agency, and decided to put her customer service background and travel experience to work. MEI-Travel and Mouse Fan Travel™ are the result.

In 1998, Beci joined a small local travel agency as an Independent Contractor. Beci used the Internet and took courses with various industry associations to learn the ropes. And Mahnken Enterprises Inc/MEI-Travel was born!

Chris Mahnken, also a fan of travel in general, and Disney in particular, has an extensive background in the computer and graphic design industries. Chris and Beci recognized the power of the Internet early on and went to work to design the first version of Beci's website. Soon after the site went live it became so successful that Beci began to provide leads to other independent contractors who booked through the mutual host agency. The web site rapidly became a huge success, and in 2000 it was recognized as the “Best Travel Website” by Travel Age West magazine.

Early In 2001, Beci added her first Disney exclusive web site. She shared her customer service knowledge and provided training and sales tools to other agents. With Beci's leadership, the new site was providing over fifty percent of the agency's total business within a year!

By 2004, in an arrangement dating back to the fall of 2001, Beci had purchased a majority share of her host agency. Later that year she was recognized by Travel + Leisure Magazine as the Super A-List Agent for Disney destinations. All the while the agency continued to grow by leaps and bounds. In 2005, Beci sold her shares to her former business partner and along with Chris, struck out on her own.

MEI-Travel, in business since 1999 as Beci's corporate travel entity, was moved out from under the “host agency” umbrella and is now its own stand alone agency – which is the MEI-Travel you see today!

Chris is busy developing new tools for both the MEI & Mouse Fan Travel™ websites as well as the new Mouse Fan Cafe community blog. Beci is thrilled to be working with a team of handpicked affililiates who excel at the art of service and represent the cream of the crop in terms of their experience and knowledge. The MEI-Travel team atmosphere fosters great client relationships, and is the type of place to truly be proud of.

Continuing education is key in providing up to date information and great service to clients. Beci has continued her education, meeting tough standards for best practices in the industry, and has earned several designations including:

• Certified Travel Counselor (CTC)
The Travel Institutes pinnacle level of certification for owners and managers or long-time sellers of travel. This program requires completion of the CTA program and at least 5 years of full time experience.

• Master Cruise Counselor (MCC)
Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) Second level of education and accomplishment focused on the cruise industry. This program requires completion of the ACC program as well as required classes, cruises and ship inspections.

Beci has also completed several specialist courses including the College of Disney Knowledge, Incentive & Group Travel, Luxury Travel, and courses focused on specific cruise lines such as Celebrity, NCL, Royal Caribbean and many others.

Beci, Chris and their staff of expert travel affiliates, are committed to continuing education and keeping up on the latest the travel industry has to offer.
